When giving dawah, it is important to remember that you are not there to win an argument but to teach others about Islam When speaking about Islam, talk with confidence. Express the truth rather than saying what people want to hear. Be sincere and patient with your fellow creation, leaving your ego behind.

Do's

Make sure to speak with the best of manners, avoiding attacking others or belittling their beliefs. Stick to the straightforward basics of Islam rather than irrelevant details. Keep the discussion focused without losing sight of your purpose. Learn about Islam so that you are able to best present it. Also learn about your audience and customize your dawah accordingly. People of different faiths and different environments should be addressed in different ways. Above all, keep your intention purely for Allah and put your trust in Him.

Don'ts

Do not make points that you are not sure of, rather say that you do not know. Do not sound apologetic if your listener brings up a confusing point, stay focused and bring the discussion back to the basics. You should not speak as if you are giving a lecture; rather speak to the people and not at them.

Points to Remember

Success is only from Allah. Success of failure is in making dawah and not in the listener's response. Our intentions should not be to make someone convert, but rather to just deliver the message in a way that pleases Allah.
